The UPT applies the anti-Stokes effect of rare earth materials, which could emit high-energy (short-wavelength) visible light when excited by low-energy (long-wavelength) infrared light. This unique feature removes almost all interference in the background of diagnostic results, lifting the signal-to-noise ratio significantly, which means much higher precision than the traditional fluorescence or colloidal gold products. Being inorganic molecules, the up-converting phosphor particles are more stable against environmental factors, in contrast to organic fluorescence materials. Therefore, the products-UPT device and UPT test kit are more stable and durable with an improved precision, comparing with traditional lateral flow immunoassays.
